I didn’t sleep very well last night- kept waking up randomly. I finally gave up an hour before my alarm goes off at 7:30 am this morning. My husband looked like he had seen a ghost since I am NEVER up at the same time as him. I know a lot of you probably get up at 5 am( or earlier) and I feel you- I used to have to get up super early, too. In fact, when I worked at Starbucks, we were opening at 4:30 am for awhile! A bunch of movies were being filmed and we wanted…

Every Sunday, I tentatively plan my week. Every day, I plan the daytime hours while the kids are at school. I have to or the bathrooms would never get clean, blog photos and posts would never get done and I would just wander around lost. I’m not a morning person, but if I’m not productive in the morning, the kids are home from school before I know it and I haven’t gotten anything done! Any parents with me on that? Since I hate mornings so much, I am always glad I have a plan written out when I wake up.…

I am not a morning person. I’ve tried. I’ve read countless articles saying that you just had to switch your schedule to adapt to it: don’t drink coffee after 2 p.m., go to bed early and at the same time, don’t drink water before bed so you’re not up peeing all night, eat a banana before you go to sleep, turn off screens hours before sleep….you name it, I’ve read it and tried it. I am still not a morning person. I am foggy and crabby in the morning. Sometimes I pack the kids a sandwich and a spoon and…

I had an epiphany this weekend. My kids came up twenty minutes after finishing breakfast and they were hungry already….and crabby. I asked Isabella what she had eaten and she said, ‘an apple sauce and some cereal without milk’. I realized that what she had eaten was basically a sugar bomb and it was no wonder she was hungry! Now that we aren’t moving anymore, and that I’m mostly unpacked, it is time to get on top of things again. I decided we would have more filling breakfasts full of real food. I also decided I would carve out time to…

Awhile ago I reported I would try to wake up before my kids for one full week and get a half hour workout done. It was really hard but… SUCCESS! Every morning was a struggle and some mornings I got out of bed much slower than others, but I found the time I gained in the evenings priceless. I only took Friday off. I took Friday off because I felt extraordinarily run-down and decided to listen to my body. The flu and a nasty cold is going around here, so I decided to let my body rest for a day…

I am NOT a morning person. I never have been. I take about two hours to feel like my eyes are fully open and I often feel energized at night time. Night time is when I suddenly feel the urge to start giant craft projects or when I have my best writing ideas. My daughter calls me Snorlax, the famous sleepy Pokemon character who seldom wakes up and is motivated by food. She’s not far off. My kids laugh at me when I sleep in on weekends, asking me why I “love sleeping so much”. It’s not that I’m depressed…
