Hunter has an interesting theory on heaven. He has thought deeply on the subject since his friend died in Grade One. Since then, his interest in history and mythology has grown. He is at a high reading level and has gobbled up books on both subjects all year. As a result, he has his own ideas on heaven. Lately, he has been comparing his theory on what the Egyptians believed. Apparently, Egyptians believed that if a feather stayed perfectly balanced on the chest of the deceased, he or she was going to heaven, a perfect utopia version of their lives…

Sometimes weekends fly by. This one did. We were very busy, it seemed, which is unusual for us. Normally we try to keep weekends low-key. We all need the time to become hermits and recharge. I never regret saying no to weekend plans. That sounds awfully anti-social, doesn’t it? I think we are just so in tune to how we work now and, with the weeks being so busy, it is our only time to reconnect as a foursome. My little tribe of 4. I love us. As a result of our busy weekend, though, I can’t help thinking- “Monday,…

Today is Monday. The schools here are having a PD Day, where teachers go to learn and the kids stay home from school. My kids ate breakfast for an extra hour and now are running around pretending to be Pokemon characters and dragons. They are hyper! Normally we would have struggled them in to their snow pants, coats, hats and mitts and walked them to school. I would be back home, having coffee and looking up emails on my phone. Josh would be working from the living room while finishing up a coffee before taking off. Today has been different…

So I downloaded a guided meditation app and my kids LOVE it. One day the little munchkins were little hurricanes of emotion. Hyper, angry, hyper, sad, hyper, more hyper, giggling machines, leave-me-alone! machines, hyper. At bedtime they were all over the map and even stories didn’t calm them down. My wonderful friend Shanna gave us LED rope lights and I set them up just in time. I asked the kids to grab pillows to sit on and switched on those lights. We sat in semi-darkness and I queued up our guided meditation app, Stop, Breathe & Think, then turned it…

I failed to write a blog post a day *sad face!!* because I didn’t come on yesterday. I had a headache, Izzy was hacking up a lung, and Hunter had to go to the dr yesterday. He had a temp of 104F and we found out he has a double ear infection. Poor little guy was feverish for 4 full days. His fever broke today at his nap-time and I have never felt such relief!! Isabella has the strongest immune system. This cough is the longest she has been sick. She gets a cold here and there but usually a…

I have the basics, I am happy. I have more than the basics. I am happy. Am I slightly annoyed I don’t have more than the more than basics? Sometimes. I wish my sewing machine worked. Right now I hand sew the toys and the clothes that need mending but I am happy enough to do this instead of replacing them. Do I wish I had a needle for my record player? Absolutely. Do I NEED these things? No. Once you have been deprived of the simple things, like fresh water or even the slightly more complex things, like enough…
