• Strangely Good Stir-Fry Recipe

It started with shrimp. I had a package of defrosted cooked shrimp to use up and was going to use it in a salad, but made a last minute decision to make a stir-fry. It was one of those nights where everything was rushed. As usual, I started supper late and Hunter had gymnastics that night, so I had to whip up something fast! (Why do we have to eat three times a day?!? So annoying, right?) Using what was on hand, plus a couple of surprising choices, I made this delicious concoction that had the kids making satisfied noises…

  • Super Easy Tomato Sauce

The other night I was super rushed for time. I worked late and it seemed that supper time snuck up on me. We had activities to rush to after supper (#momlife, right?), so as soon as I got the kids from school it was time to start supper. I rarely buy cookbooks, but when I saw the cookbook “Deliciously Ella” in the discount section at Chapters, I knew I had to have it! I recognized her name from her blog, which I had happened to visit once or twice, and had liked the couple of recipes I had gotten from it. The biggest appeal for me was that the cookbook used a few core ingredients over and over. None of the buying…

  • Community Shared Agriculture and a Salsa Recipe

I love our Community Shared Agriculture farm. We picked Eagle Creek Farms which is close to Calgary, AB, and is run by Farmer John and his family. They deliver the veggies and herbs weekly to a nearby farmer’s market. I don’t have a garden or a yard and a potted plant garden on my balcony can only yield so much. I don’t often get to the farmer’s markets so supporting a local farm and getting veggies once a week from them is a dream! I’ve made so many things. Here I used the cilantro to make salsa, cucumbers to make pickles,…
