• A Case of the Mondays…

Remember the movie “Office Space” and they made fun of people who say, “Looks like you have a case of the Mondays”? Well, I have a case of the Mondays and it’s Wednesday. It’s one of those mixed up days you wish you could start again. Hunter was awake a bit last night. I settled him and thought he was teething. The kids were crabby this morning from lack of sleep and it was the regular gong show morning. Hunter couldn’t decide if he wanted to walk Isabella to school or not so Izzy and I started out on our…

  • I Turned 33

I’m 33!  I turned 33 years old yesterday so it’s still my “Birthday Weekend”. Today was a lazy day. My actual birthday-day was too. I ate a Tim  Horton’s breakfast the Husband snuck out early to go and grab……So spoiled!…… then dropped off my hunk of junk (aka my beloved Maude-mobile that I am mad at for costing us money right now) at our mechanic’s. Then lazed and watched Ruby Gloom with the kids. Ate Lunch, kids napped. Did one quick round of Tokyo Jungle and then showered. Spent a longgg time playing with makeup while listening to Dave Grohl’s…

  • Running Back and Forth Between Tiny Disasters

It’s St. Patrick’s Day and I have had quite the day. The husband sneaked out of bed first and went downstairs to make breakfast. I got up and got the kids out of their rooms. Husband made eggs, sausages, and hash browns, then served it with french bread and jam. He wanted a good base in his stomach before he went out St Paddy’s Day drinking with his best friend. (Now, no hard feelings there. He gets to see his friend around twice a year lately cuz they live on opposite ends of the city and are so busy with…

  • Chester the Molester: Child Safety

People that have never experienced sexual assault don’t understand how awfully common it is. If we start being careful of what kids see and educating them young we can empower young beings to defend themselves and know when to say no and report it. It happens to both girls and boys BY both men and women, but girls are more frequently targeted… I stole these statistics off of the Rape Victims Support Network and they are frightening. Sexual Assault Stats: One of every 17 Canadian women is raped at some point in her life A woman is sexually assaulted by…

  • Food Intolerance and Its Relationship to Age

Since I am waiting for the paint on my nails to dry, and it is as exciting as it sounds, I thought I would ramble for a minute before I start supper. I talked to my doctor about my food intolerance issues and she basically said, “Of course. You are getting older. Your body chemistry is changing and you can’t eat what you used to. Be careful of food combinations and quantity and you can eat everything. It’s just a matter of getting older and adjusting.” And you know what? She is right. I eat less processed foods now but…

  • Lucid Dreams and Snow Storms

Last night I had a very entertaining dream. I was me in an alternate universe. I had the freckles I always wanted, and my hair had grown to my waist. I sat in my open concept, farmhouse-inspired city home and wrote the most eloquent blog. I woke up wondering how to make the blog topic even more sweet in the light of a real day for all of you out there. But in the midst of wiping my kids snotty noses and setting up breakfast, taking down breakfast, crafts for the kidlets (as we call our kids sometimes for no…

  • An Argument Against Processed Foods.

Yesterday I went to McDonald’s. I have been to several in my life, and until I was 25 years old, it never bothered me. Then I started to get sick. Food poisoning sick. I would do nothing new all day except eat McDonald’s. I even went to several different locations in case it WAS food poisoning. But the next 10 times, without fail, I would eat McDonald’s and about 30 mins to an hour later it would start. I would feel awful,  my stomach churning around. A little while later it would feel like I ate a bag of broken…

  • How to End an Argument with Laughter

This weekend my Husband and I had a misunderstanding. I run, sometimes. I am trying to make it a habit but it’s hard starting a new …well, a lifestyle really. I had intended on going 3 times a week, around my 2 times a week Karate class. I just started so it’s really just ten minutes of prep (dressing, stretching, shoes, music ) and then a half hour of running. ( I always shout in my head “Half Hour Of POWER!” before heading out and inevitably start humming a Sum 41 song from that album). My intentions were good but…

  • To My Son, An Open Letter to You.

Dear Son. There are many, many things I should teach you. Most of them I haven’t even thought of. The most competitive you should be with any person is with yourself only. Never mind what anyone else is doing. Challenge yourself and always set new goals. There is no such thing as cool, or uncool…. Some of the coolest people were horrible “nerds” in school, and vice versa!  It’s all relative. Be patient with people’s differences. You are who you’re supposed to be. Don’t try to be someone else. Whether you are straight or gay, respect the one you’re with.…

  • Lions and Tigers and …Oh Wait, They’re Ants!!

We have an ant infestation. The mini black ants have taken over the playroom thanks to the poorly sealed basement window,  and now have moved up to the kitchen. The other day I moved a toy bin in the basement playroom and the stupid things had made a nest under it! Carpet is not dirt and not a proper nest. Seriously. So I disturbed them last night and this morning they are in the kitchen.  When a horde of them ran over my bare feet I was jumping out of my skin! I forced myself to stand there until I…
