• Discovering Alchemy Soaps

    A couple of weeks back I attended a Harry Potter event in Calgary, “Hallow’s Eve in the Village”, in East Village here in Calgary, AB. Although the event was kind of a bust overall, with nothing really for decorations and very little entertainment to the shivering people with a pass to get in early (I wish they had theater kids come dressed as Harry Potter characters and entertain us in character or some stage props to set the scene), it wasn’t a total loss as I was able to meet some very talented vendors.   • Beakerhead 2016

    In Calgary, there is a yearly event called “Beakerhead” which they proclaim is “A Smash Up of Art, Science, & Engineering”. I was only able to go for a few hours during the day and, even without the lights on the impressive displays lit up, it was really cool. I went while my kids were at school but next year I plan on taking them on a tour of the displays. Since I only had one day free, my friend and I focused on seeing the Chain Reaction pieces.   • Calgary Comic Con

    A ‘staycation’ was in order for us, so we were all looking forward to Comic Con. It crept up on me! All of a sudden it was here. I was fairly unprepared. The kids wanted elaborate costumes but we didn’t have time in the end so I patched some stuff together from their wardrobe and Value Village finds, and it worked and it was super cute.
