The environment is really important to me, so I've posted a lot of reusable items in my Etsy, Babbling Panda Yarns

I was having coffee with a friend the other day and he pointed out that I have become the quintessential 1950’s housewife and we both laughed. I have known him since I was 20 years old, so we both remember my Beat generation, damn the man, I’ll always be a free artist phase. But when you have kids, things change. Some of us long for roots and security. A place for the kids to come home, some stability. My need to keep an organized life has come out ten-fold and I have heard a lot of moms say that. I…

I was working away on my projects this weekend, getting ready for a summer overhaul of my Etsy shop, BabblingPandaYarns. I was looking up crochet things and came across this meme: It made me laugh because people do say funny things like this to me from time to time. If you craft with yarn, you know how expensive it can get and how long this would take someone. (Beyond the fact that I think this is manufactured lace! Haha). I hope this made you smile. X.

This year has been a lot. That’s the best way I can describe it- just a lot going on. It has been more frantic and busy and emotional than other years so, of course, my anxiety and depression have been higher than other years. Fortunately, I don’t rely on meds as I did in my teens and my early twenties, but I cannot just ignore it so I have found alternate coping skills. On top of these skills, I have found that a better diet with less junk food, no pop and gluten-free has helped a ton, as has my…

Oh my gosh, you guys. I did something kind of frightening for me. I’m also really excited, because I am proud of the products I have done. After years of people encouraging me (I think since Hunter was born), I have finally opened an Etsy shop. You can find it at this link: (CLICK HERE) I know a lot of people sell crochet goods on Etsy, but I am hoping I can make mine unique enough to stand out. Hopefully, a lot of people will favourite my shop and it will become more popular. I feel like I am making yarn…

This weekend we went out to a coworker’s house for brunch, which was very nice and I got to meet their super-sweet kids. It was fun to run after a super energetic toddler and have the simplest things make him laugh. And they have Cornish Rex cats!! I took so many photos of their furry friends….the Rex cats look like little princes and are super soft. That took most of Saturday and the rest of the weekend was taken up with movies and crochet. I find crochet so comforting and meditative. There is also something very tribal about having soft…

After decluttering my closet, I had a lot of t-shirts that weren’t really worthy of sending to a thrift store. I considered making rags out of them, but I have enough cleaning rags. Instead, I decided on t-shirt yarn! You can make a myriad of things with t-shirt yarn and I have an addiction to crochet, so it is the perfect choice. My heart is set on making a t-shirt yarn rug, like the ones my grandma had scattered around her house. She braided and sewed her rugs together but I am going to attempt to crochet mine. They will…
