• Happy 34th Birthday Husband!

Happy 34th birthday to my husband! Josh was born in B.C. and I was born in Saskatchewan, but we met in Alberta at a Halloween party when Josh was 23 years old. I’ve known you for 11 years, Husband!   Yes, we have known each other for 11 years, but it feels like more- in a good way. The minute I met you, it felt like we’d known each other for lifetimes. It was if our souls hugged the minute that we met. In those years, we have moved houses twice, bought a house once, had two babies, changed jobs…

  • My Kid, The Loner

My son has a very active imagination. Alone, he can play with Lego or action figures for hours and make up several new rich and layered stories. He doesn’t get lonely. Socializing with kids during class-time at school and playing with his sister for an hour after school is usually enough for him. After school, he is often exhausted and needs immediate alone time for at least 20 minutes or he gets really cranky. His mind is really amazing. The way he thinks is so complex, old-soul, future-forward type of thinking. He has such a creative and complex story-line when…

  • It’s My Birthday!

I am 37 years old this year. I wish I could stay 36 forever. This year I accomplished a lot. It was a good year. Plus, I love the sound of that age- the perfect sweet spot between ‘too-young-to-know-better’ and ‘too-old-to-care’. However, time stops for no one. Onward!   This year I have made myself proud. I have crushed my own fitness boundaries, I have stepped outside my comfort zone and I have faced fears. I started an Etsy business, found a style that works for me, and have learned to say no. I have addressed health issues and taught…

  • Being Sick and Parenting

Last week I had to pretend I had super powers. Being very sick and feeling like a zombie, I lurched myself through the week in a daze. Twice I nearly fell asleep in my lunch, and Hunter had to ask me what I was doing, and if I was looking at my lunch “real close”. LOL. But I survived it and managed to be an okay mom to my kids at the same time! I also managed to drop off the fairy garden I had made for a friend in her yard (more about that next week), and I managed…

  • Banff & Radium

On my 35th birthday, my mother-in-law took the kids for the weekend and we got to get away. It was just a couple of nights but it felt longer. Both cities are so close they would also make suitable day trips if you live in Calgary, Alberta. We got to Banff on Friday, in late afternoon, and checked in to our hotel. High Country Inn is very cute and I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat. Loved the (almost) overly woodsy lobby and the friendly hotel staff. The two at the front desk were, I believe, Australian. In…
