Today feels like…. We had such a busy weekend that I’m having trouble getting back into the groove. I hope everyone had a happy Father’s Day weekend, whether it was celebrating with one or in memory of one. Our family had a great time. We went to The Hangar Flight Museum all day Saturday and then Heritage Park on Sunday, followed by (amazing!) sushi at Momoyama Sushi here in Calgary. But now, exhausted. I cannot have caffeine since I am still doing the Gut Makeover meal plan, so strong herbal tea smells will have to revive me. Have a…

I have a hard-working husband, an anxious kid, a sensitive kid and a neurotic cat (she likes being slapped on the butt, (seriously!), which makes me wonder about her past life, but more on another time). I didn’t need a leaky gut on top of all of that. It’s so broken that I am constantly fatigued and in constant pain. I needed a change. So I got a book written by a nutritionist and started to learn. Once I read the entire thing, I started the program to (hopefully) heal (or at least help) my gut. And I started The…

I’m almost finished this book: I’m impressed with it so far and ready to try it in June. I am sick of always feeling crampy and bloated after meals. I feel tired, have horrible acne and sore joints. There are a lot of other symptoms, as well, that cross the line from “discomfort” in to “chronic illness”. I have leaky gut in a big way. I have a couple of friends who have suffered from it and have healed themselves using a similar diet that is outlined in this book. I can’t wait to start eating from an elimination diet…

My heart is breaking but, being an adult, I have to make the hard choice and do what is right for my family and my pet. Thorin no longer gets along with our older cat, Kali. So we have tried everything and have come to the conclusion that Thorin needs to be the only cat in the household, which isn’t possible here. He just keeps fighting with Kali and fighting for dominance in the household. Kali is old, and odd, and vocal, and quirky and wouldn’t survive being in a new home. Thorin is lovable and soft and independent but…

I have been married to Josh for 7 years! Hurray!! I am still as in love with him as the first moment we met. As soon as I talked to him 7 years ago, I knew that I would be with him forever. It sounds as bizarre and crazy as feeling that was! How can you know that? I just remember going out that night and thinking, “I want to be single for a year or two,” but then meeting him a few hours later, and thinking, “F*ck, I’m gonna fall in love with this guy”. It was just a…

Omigosh, my pants are tight. I’ve gained weight. Not a big deal….just have to get back on track. Or at least, that is what I am telling myself. We read a great kid’s book the other day, (hang with me, it ties in) called Virginia Wolf. It perfectly explains the “doldrums”, as the author puts it. I felt that last month. And I gave up, just like Virginia in the story. I was crabby and isolated myself. I stopped working out and I reached for comfort foods a LOT. I justified it by skipping my first snack of the day,…

Thankfully, April is over. April is always a low month for me and I am not sure why. I am just glad it is May! Hopefully, we have a lot of sunny days ahead and we can leave the gray skies and the snow and rain behind. In celebration of summer coming up, I feel suddenly inspired to make colourful crafts! I haven’t made any crafts in a while, but here are some of my favourite options: My love of modern boho style has me constantly drawn to the idea of tassels. I read somewhere that they were thought to…

Yo, I hope your week has been great. (Yep, I still say “Yo” cuz I grew up in the nineties, you know). I feel like my energy is back and that I am gonna rock May! I hate Feb and April, I always feel super low energy and those months always seem busier to me. But, I feel like I am emerging from a darkness with renewed energy and focus. The result of that? More focus on my crochet projects! I’ve finally honed in on what I want my shop to look like this summer, with new projects and a…

Remember the Wizard of Oz? It is one of my son’s favourite movies. You know when Dorothy is trying to figure herself out and she gets so stressed out that she dreams of Oz? Yeah, that’s my life in a nutshell right now. I’ve been so stressed that I am in survival mode. I just go from one obligation to the next then pass out on my couch at night. The end of the school year is closing in and there is so much to do with two kids in full-time school. All I seem to do is jump from…

I was working away on my projects this weekend, getting ready for a summer overhaul of my Etsy shop, BabblingPandaYarns. I was looking up crochet things and came across this meme: It made me laugh because people do say funny things like this to me from time to time. If you craft with yarn, you know how expensive it can get and how long this would take someone. (Beyond the fact that I think this is manufactured lace! Haha). I hope this made you smile. X.
