We Got The Flu! Did You?

Hey!

We have been sick. Tis the season, I guess. (You get the flu! And you get the flu! And you get the flu! -haha)

My kids threw up for 3 days straight, a break of a couple days, then again threw up for a couple of days. Despite early bedtimes, drinking lots of water, and eating a lot of garlic and oranges. We tried to be proactive but sometimes the germs are stronger. It was rough. Isabella usually throws up a max of three times but threw up 6 times in one night. I was the only one of the family who was able to get a flu shot so far (the rest were either too busy or sick…) and I threw up for one night vs a few days. A lot shorter than the rest of the family. I dunno if it is because I got the flu shot. But here’s hoping. The only way to know for sure is if I finally find the Tardis, go back and don’t get the flu shot. Haha! The flu shot is very controversial – some view it as unnecessary as leeching is nowadays and some view it as necessary as penicillin (which people were also suspicious of at first). I don’t know what is true but it hasn’t done me any harm and I find the years I do get it, I get the flu less often that year and for a shorter duration. But I am not here to debate…..

I threw up so much on Wednesday night that by Thursday I looked like….

Josh even got the flu! He never gets sick! We would put on a movie for Hunter, who was home sick from school but not willing to nap, so that we could nap. Then the weekend came….

We definitely laid low this weekend and watched a lot of TV. Hunter is all about Scooby-Doo, again, and Isabella watched the Harry Potter movie twice and a lot of Studio Ghibli.  I ate a lot of plain rice and Jell-O in an effort to keep my stomach settled. I felt like the walking dead…. I am on the mend but definitely still feeling off today. I am going to try to yoga out some of the germs tonight because I am not up for cardio just yet.

The upside to being sick was the fact that I didn’t feel guilty sitting and crocheting. I made hats for presents, a baby mobile, a tarot card holder and a couple cute soot sprites for the kids.

A week ago, the kids were well enough to attend a kid’s Christmas party and Hunter got a race car track and Isabella got a hula-hoop that tracks her spins. She is obsessed. I love it. It’s the greatest thing ever to hear her shout “yes” when she breaks her own record.

Breaking her own record every day.

Hunter didn’t even get a nosebleed during the party, which is rare for him. As soon as the leaves start to drop, his nose starts to drip. He has an almost chronic problem in the winter and now that it has snowed outside…well, we go through a lot of Kleenex.

His winter normal, unfortunately.

Our Christmas tree is up and so far the cats have been good with it! Kali has been a bit more clingy with Josh since though….does she think the Christmas tree will carry her away? She even let Josh pick her up and carry her like a football the other day….even though she didn’t love love love it, she endured it. Needy old lady cat.

That’s us in a nutshell lately. I am done Christmas shopping, the kids are ready for Christmas break from school, I kind of like the snow outside (but not the cold temps!), and we are drinking a lot of eggnog. And how are you?

Check in Wednesday to finally  see my new haircut!
