Things My Husband Has Taught Me

My Husband is very wise. Here are some fun things his steady, calm, patient attitude has taught me:

  • Things always go on sale. There is no need to pay full price for (almost) anything
  • Some things may be fated, but hard work gives fate a helping hand and will lead you to it faster and surer
  • Kids need limits to feel safe and loved
  • Being outside is a natural anti-depressant and when you don’t feel like doing that at all, that is when you need it the most
  • Good things come to those that wait; but also to those that work hard and steadily towards their goal while they are waiting
  •  Books are better when bought second-hand (It’s actually something we have both always believed, and that we bonded over)
  • When you speak from a place of self-esteem and confidence, people will listen, even when you speak quietly
  • If you can make it yourself on a budget or with second-hand goods, you should do that rather than buying new
  • Silence is golden
  • Being opinionated is okay, as long as it is from an educated place
  • Food should be savoured and enjoyed
  • It’s okay to want to stay inside with each other and have a quiet night in, even when you are invited to a party (#introverts)
  • Love people for who they are, not for who you want them to be
  • Everything in moderation
  • Love yourself

See? Very wise. I have learned patience and kindness from this wonderful man.

However, I realize I am lucky and that the love in relationships can ebb and flow. If you shook your head no through most of this post and wish your relationship was stronger, there is help online. If you want to find out if couple’s therapy would benefit you, I would definitely check out THIS LINK from Regain.us. Sometimes we just need a little help getting back on track.

As for right now in my own relationship? I have learned what hard-work is and how to be smarter financially. I have learned how to be less judgemental and to be a better listener. Every day I learn something new and we balance each other so wonderfully. Definitely fated. I hope these words resonate with you, too.
